Independent testing confirms Ultravation® UV light surface disinfection efficacy against Zoogloea bacteria
The bacterial study, designed by the independent testing firm Aerosol Research and Engineering Laboratories, Inc., of Overland Park, Kansas, to determine the efficacy of Ultravation UV light used for air and surface disinfection against Zoogloea bacteria. The validation of the results is confirmed through tightly controlled conditions and processes.
UV effectiveness in disinfecting HVAC surfaces
Ultravation UV lights Zoogloea inactivation:
99.99% within 30 minutes*
Pure strain seed stocks of Zoogloea sp. ATCC 1913 positioned 10 inches away from UV lamp.
- Stainless steel coupons were inoculated with Zoogloea sp. and placed in the sealed environmental chamber containing the Ultravation UV light device.
- Triplicate coupons were removed at predetermined
time points for extraction and bacterial concentration determination. - The Ultravation UV Light demonstrated significant reductions in viable Zoogloea sp. on stainless steel coupons at all exposure intervals.
Tested in conditions designed to eliminate real-world variables.
The control samples displayed minimal natural decay, which AER Labs states confirms the observed reductions were attributable to the UV exposure rather than environmental factors.
Control coupons were stored in a dark area within the same chamber to account for natural bacterial decay over time under identical environmental conditions.
Controlled parameters
During the testing process, Stainless steel coupons inoculated with Zoogloea sp. were placed under the UV light for varying exposure times. The control coupons were stored in a dark area to prevent UV contact. Testing was performed in triplicate at multiple time points to assess the time-dependent reduction of viable bacteria.
Ultravation UV Lights Independent Testing
This figure shows the net log reduction of viable Zoogloea sp. at each exposure interval after accounting for natural decay observed in control samples.
Graph shows the percent reduction of Zoogloea on the stainless steel coupons over time following UV exposure. This figure illustrates the percent reduction in viable Zoogloea.
Ultravation: 25 years of experience in indoor air and surface disinfection
We created our company specializing in indoor air quality products in 2000. Today, we're improving indoor air with installations in thousands of homes, businesses and institutions.
As the awareness of air treatment technologies has increased, including interest in UV-C light and photocatalytic oxidation as technologies for disinfection, we are pleased to announce that we have had the efficacy of some of our most popular products confirmed by an independent testing lab, to reassure potential customers that Ultravation engineering and effectiveness calculations and measurements are accurate and dependable.
